Day 2 in Sydney we went to the zoo which is on the other side of the harbor from the city so it has really nice views which u will see in the pics. It was rainy and really humid so that was kind of a bummer but it was cool to see all of the Australian animals. We were broken down into groups of 10 and walked around with a guide from the zoo to show us all the animals and such. We went into this one part and although there is a path that everyone is supposed to stay on the kangaroos and emus aren’t caged in so they can come on the paths as well. So we were lucky enough to have a kangaroo sitting on the path so we could pet it. It was really soft surprisingly and really cute. Some of them were jumping around a bit which was awesome. We also saw the kawolas sleeping in their trees and a kookaburra and some of the other Australian animals. Then after that we had time to just walk around by ourselves and we saw more of the typical zoo animals. The Sydney zoo had a baby elephant that was the first one in Australia and Asia or something I dunno everyone was very impressed and wanted to see it and it was really cute.
The Sydney academy of sport had packed us lunch and they had some odd combinations like turkey and jam sandwich and one of the common juices the Australians drink is apple and black currant juice which is really good. They eat lots of black currants and passion fruit.
After the zoo we took a ferry cruise for two hours around the harbor. We got to see the opera house of course and the Sydney harbor bridge and the Prime Minister’s house. It was the only time we really got to see Sydney so I think I need to make a weekend trip back there. Supposedly you can find flights for around $50.
That night they had a bush band come after dinner and so they played some Australian stuff and we did lots of line dances. Not all of them were Australian though which was kinda odd and they even were singing Johnny Cash at one point so who knows.
